Every teacher is so friendly and willing to work with you!

Jack from Winter 2023

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The schools scheduled culture trips and excursions were easily my favorite events run by the school last semester. All of them were interesting and fun, and were a great way to see and learn about famous places close to Tokyo.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

My favorite part of the program is easily the teachers, I enjoyed their continued enthusiasm for every class. The were always willing to work with me through their busy schedules which I find truly amazing. My least favorite aspect of the program was the first half of the semester which spent an incredible amount of time on very basic grammar points that most of the class easily understood while not giving us enough time at the end of the semester to study the more difficult grammar points. The overall pacing of the course felt a little strange and I know I am not the only student who feels this way.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Games are easily the best way for me and other students to learn. But for me personally my one on one time with my teachers was the best way for me to learn.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

The excursions paired with Mr. Tanakas wonderful educational interjections at the culture sights taught me many things I did not know.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

I would suggest new students to immediately reach out to your teachers and just start talking with them. Every teacher is so friendly and willing to work with you!

Testimonials

This program has been awesome, and I learned a lot about Japanese language and culture within such a short period of time. The teachers are very patient and they try their best to encourage everyone’s participation by making the class fun. I would definitely recommend this school to other people who wants to go to Japan to study Japanese.
