Attend KCP only if you are serious about studying Japanese.
Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?
I enjoyed the Kamakura trip the most. For one it was nice to get out of the city for a weekend. I also felt it was a great chance to enhance my friendships with the other American students.
What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?
The most productive aspect was being in a direct method course with students that did not speak English.
What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?
I really liked the text books used. They made learning both grammar and kanji much easier than the books I have used previously.
Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?
The main piece of advice I would offer to prospective students is that they should only attend KCP if they are serious about studying Japanese. Studying here is not as relaxed as studying at many colleges in the US and will require not only a large amount of your time, but also constant effort. Of course the work is rewarded and this program seems to be one of the best ways to improve your Japanese.
