Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

Many of the in-class activities helped with real life situations, and we were encouraged to speak the language with our classmates

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I think it was really helpful to have homework, and the teachers actually check it and correct it. i learned a lot that way. they also care a lot about your learning. i liked the speech contest because it was a chance to look at what others were doing and sort of see where you were heading to. I had my classes in the afternoon and it was a bit hard to manage my time.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

drill practice and tests were the most nerve wracking, but they were also very helpful because you could see what needed study before taking a big test or trying to do something in the real world. I also liked the way kanji is taught because we also learned new words.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

The instructors knew what they were talking about and they gave an insight to many things people think in the west that may or may not be true. it also helps to see modern japanese society came to be

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

I want go back to study in KCP again, so I guess that's a good sign. It's a really good school, but I also think it depends on how much time you want to put into it. Don't just see it as a trip to japan, really try to live it, and use what you're learning. In the west, language schools aren't that helpful, so take advantage of that. Also I saw some of my classmates having a really hard time with the cultural differences, especially in food, so I suggest being more open minded to better enjoy the experience.

Testimonials

The program as a whole was incredibly productive. KCP is very intensive, but if you do your homework and study and make an effort, you will learn SO fast.
