Classes focusing on grammar, speaking and listening were very productive.

Michael from Summer 2016

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The speech contest was fun. It was interesting to hear different perspectives.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

Classes focusing on grammar, speaking and listening were very productive. The teachers were great, and always willing to spend extra time going over something I didn't understand. I found the writing class difficult, because we weren't allowed to prepare ahead of time or use dictionaries. Some of the homework seemed repetitive and unnecessary.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Group work was fun, especially working with students from other countries. Conversation and pronunciation practice were very helpful, as were classes on JLPT grammar points. Memorizing kanij was very difficult.

Any other comments or suggestions?

The staff were all very kind, and I enjoyed my experience very much. Thank you!
