Do what you want to do, even if you don’t have anyone to do it with.

Casey from Summer 2023

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

Kotoba day was quite fun. I’m just a bit sad it happened so early in the term, but I understand that the continuing students had been waiting for a long time so it’s fine.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Work hard and somewhat proficient before hand so you’re placed in the higher level classes. They’re earlier but you have much more time to enjoy the rest of your day. Don’t fall into a rut of the same lifestyle too quickly. It’ll happen eventually which is the point of living anywhere so before that happens try to explore as much as you can. Even walking around your town or around the school WILL lead to interesting discoveries and it’s more fun while you’re still in the starstruck foreigner stage. Try to always have something to do to stave off the rut. Making friends with the people in your class is a great way but the people in your dorm are more consistently there, especially if they’re around the same level as you since your class times will coincide. On this point, do what you want to do, even if you don’t have anyone to do it with this is your experience so make the most of it, whether that be doing school clubs, going to arcades, going bar hopping, traveling, anything you want to do just do it. Also make sure to keep on top of your work. For as hard as it is it’s not really that hard if you have a good enough handle on your abilities. You can not do your homework and just wake up early the next day to do it or just do it as soon as you finish your classes in the library whatever method suits you best, as long as you do it.

Testimonials

The textbooks and drill practice helped me study, the tests helped me figure out what I needed to study more. I often did small group study sessions outside of class as well, and those helped all involved, I believe.
